My favorite things about birthday's are the decorations, food, and the cake! When you walk into a party and see fun colored decorations and yummy food served up pretty, it sets a fun mood and something to talk about.
I have seen these Pom Poms a few places and they are so cute! They add a pop of color and are just fun! I had to have these! So I googled to see how to make them! I found a how-to on Martha Stewart and immediately went out and bought 2- 20 sheet packs of white and robins egg tissue paper from Target. This will make 2- 16 inch round Pom-Poms and 1- 8 inch Pom-Pom from 1 pack of tissue paper.
My sister turned 19 yesterday and I thought this would be a fun project to try and it would brighten her day!
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE POM-POM'S:
1. 8 SHEETS OF TISSUE PAPER (18"X 26")
2. CLOTH COVERED FLORAL STEM WIRE
3. HEAVY DUTY SCISSORS (Which I did not have)
(for smaller Pom Pom follow in quote {} directions for 1st part)
1. Stack 8 sheets together and fold in about 1.5 inches
{For the smaller Pom-Pom use 4 sheets of tissue paper. Before unfolding the tissue paper out flat you will want to cut it in half. This makes it easier to get even sheets. cut in half and stacked to make 8- 9inch sheets. making the fold about 1 inch.}
2. Continue folding into an accordion fold
3. Fold one piece of wire in half
4. Slide the wire over the middle of the tissue paper and twist
5. Cut the ends on both sides either rounded or pointed edge.
6. Pull tissue paper apart one at a time, away from the center, starting on one side of the folds working your way to the other side.
7. Start pulling on the other side of folds until your Pom-Pom is beautifully full, you may need to adjust some layers and puff a few places out.
In the end it should look something like this:
Round edge cut |
pointed edge cut |
