I hope everyone is doing ok from Irene! Our prayers and thoughts with those who really got hit. I feel bad but so thankful that the extent of our damage was a leaky ceiling from filling our tub. That's nothing! Our Neighbors had water back up into their basement and down their wall which they said never happened before. None of my family had electric except us. It was crazy that my parents live a mile from our house and they just got their electric back today. Ours never even went out, just flickered a few times. Thankfully we had it so they could use it! We loved having my family at our house. And my kids thought it was a party.
Saturday I got ready for the unexpected. My hubby brought in everything from outside and I ran to the grocery stores making sure I had snacks for the kids and dry goods for meals. John filled up a few water jugs for drinking water. He also thought it would be a good idea to put the kids mattresses in our room since there is a big tree out their window. They were loving it! My daughter brought in all their toys, books, and all her stuffed animals. It was so funny. They thought they were having a sleep over. And we felt better knowing they were in with us just in case anything would come through their window.
In all this I wanted to share a product I found that is awesome! It is called the LifeGear Glowstick Flashlight. Between the boys they have about 6 flashlights and Rory said to me, "Mama can you find me a purple flashlight at the store?" How could I not get the poor girl her very own flashlight! The boys had enough for everyone, but it is fun to have your own at 3. So as I shopped, I checked BB's, Good's and Fergies. I found this flash light at Good but only in green and blue, being saturday I knew I wasn't going to find much. As I was about to check out at fergies I found this same light in pink. It looks like a light saber. (If you have kids who love Star Wars you will know what this is, basically a light up stick)

The woman at Fergie's said she got her daughter one last halloween for trick or treat and that it has a string to attach for a necklace and flashes. Well, isn't that cool! When I got it home I found out another great thing it did. It was a whistle too!! Rory loved it and of course Johnny wants one now! This is a great product for kids at halloween. If your kids feel in danger or lost during trick or treating they can use the whistle. Or like my daughter just blow on it for fun to make loud noise! It was $4.69 at the Grocery store, which I didn't think was bad for everything it did. To find the site for the flashlight just click under the flash light picture above.
Another thing I want to share is my meatballs!I found these pictures of my yummy meatballs I make up from time to time. I love these! They are mini's of my mom's delicious meatloaf minus the divine sauce, which I should use! I made these up a few years ago tweaking the ingredients and adding a few to make my own meatballs. I don't make them very much but when I am in the mood for a good meatball sandwich I make these!
Try them and let me know what you think of them and if there is anything I could do different.
Liz's Meatball's
1 lb. Ground beef
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup of milk
1 Cup of seasoned bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. of Sage
2 tsp. onion powder or 1/4 c. minced onion
1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp of Garlic and Dry mustard
combine all the ingredients. Use a tablespoon to scoop the meat mixture and shape into meatballs. Place the meatballs in a jelly roll pan or 9 x 13, ungreased. Place in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until they look done. Cut a meatball in half to make sure they are cooked all the way through. Serve in a large roll topped with pasta sauce and fresh shredded mozzarella.
ENJOY
